How to safely remove pollen from your car

Pollen can actually harm your air filters, interior, and exterior paintwork. So, here are a few little tips to help everyone to safely remove pollen from their car.

1. Breathe In, Breathe Out

Getting fresh air into your car is important. However, when the air has incredibly high levels of pollen, it can start to clog and even damage your air filters. The best way to prevent this is to give your air filters a good clean. If any are damaged, get them replaced as soon as possible before it affects your air conditioning and other internal areas of your car.

2. Wipe Over Your Interiors

Doors and windows are opening and closing regularly, so it can be hard to avoid pollen and other dust particles from getting inside. These can make your car appear dirty, it will become unhygienic, and add to your allergies. Make sure to give your car a thorough vacuuming, getting all the dust out of those hard-to-reach places.

Pollen and dust can also wear the outside paintwork on your car, so make sure to regularly clean this too. You can follow our tips on how to give your car a thorough clean, or you can take it to a professional car cleaning and detailing service and leave the hard work to the professionals.

3. Wax On, Pollen Off

If you live in an area that experiences high levels of pollen, you may need to clean the inside and outside of your car as frequently as a couple of times each week. If you live in an area with a low to moderate pollen count, once a week or once a fortnight should suffice.

Another way to help protect the outside of your car from pollen is by applying wax to your car. This will make the surface slippery, so pollen and other pollutants won’t be able to stick to it. Car wax also helps to protect the paint from general acidity or oxidation wear. We recommend applying wax before spring weather hits, so the pollen and dust won’t get trapped underneath a layer of protective wax, and defeat the purpose of using wax in the first place.

4. Store Your Car Strategically

If you’re lucky enough to have a lock-up garage, or be able to store your car undercover, your chances of having pollen problems with your vehicle are much lower. So if you can, try to keep your car stored undercover whenever possible. Otherwise, you may find yourself needing to clean it more regularly.

Pollen Be Gone!

So there you have it. Follow these few little tricks, and you’ll be able to kick the pollen out of your car now and keep it away from your sinuses for longer.
